Beartooth Motorcycle Rally Area Campgrounds |
|
July 17-20th, 2009 |
|
Every year in Red Lodge, Montana thousands of bikers join the
fast-growing crowds to enjoy the
festivities that the Beartooth Motorcycle Rally has to offer. Formally
called the Harley Rodeo, this event has evolved over the years and has become a
favorite due to the awesome location nestled amongst the beautiful Beartooth
Mountains in the Red Lodge area. This small tourist-orientated town plays
a great host to the great rally that has become one of Red Lodge's biggest draws
of the year. Sturgis Rally is located within a day's drive and is
considered a follow-up rally after the Beartooth Rally.
The famous Beartooth Pass is
incorporated into the Poker Run that runs every year on the Saturday of this
momentous weekend. Great stops along the way make this route anything but
ordinary. The switchbacks and rugged tundra terrain to the top make the
views unbeatable. The West Summit of the Beartooth Pass is at an altitude
of 10,947ft. Then the bikers will ride into the old mining town of Cooke
City, Montana. Cooke City is located at 7,600ft. above sea level.
This friendly little town has local gas stations, restaurants, and bars to
accommodate the bikers as they arrive into town. There are local hotels
and campgrounds in the area that will make your stay in Montana even more
memorable. Be sure to head back to Cooke City after your stay in Red Lodge
as it is located on 4 miles from the north-east entrance of Yellowstone National
Park.
On the way back down, the Poker Run will continue down through
the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway, another beautiful route back to Red Lodge.
The beautiful red rocks on the way down are a sight to see! The Clark's
Fork river will follow its way through the canyons and along the main highway as
you turn back to Belfry en route to Red Lodge. Clark's Fork is well known
for various water activities such as tubing, fishing, camping, and all kinds of
other outdoor activities.

Beartooth Pass -
The Beartooth All-American Road
is heralded as one of the most scenic drives in the United
States. This amazing route features breathtaking views of
the Absaroka and Beartooth Mountains, and open high alpine
plateaus dotted with countless glacial lakes, forested valleys,
waterfalls and wildlife. It provides easy access to Yellowstone
National Park at its northeast entrance. Take time to enjoy this
unique travel destination and all of the amenities, attractions
and historic sites in the great Yellowstone area. Visits to the
gateway communities of Cody, Cooke City, Silvergate, and the Top
of the World Store.
There are 13 National Forest Campgrounds located along
the way. |
|
Cody, Wyoming - This part of Wyoming represents the last of
the true West. Cody is what America was, a place where the
cowboy culture thrives and where the new west begins. The vistas
are spectacular, the land is wild, the people are genuinely
friendly and the opportunities for outdoor adventure,
recreation, education and entertainment are as large and varied
as the Wyoming skies. |
|
Yellowstone National Park - The world’s first national park,
Yellowstone, was created by an act of Congress in 1872 as a
“pleasuring ground for the benefit and enjoyment of the people
in order to protect for all time this outstanding natural
area.” As Congress created more parks, the need for an agency
to administer the park system became clear, yielding the
National Park Service in 1916. The Northeast entrance is about
1.5hrs. from Red Lodge, over the Beartooth Highway. |
